Academic results: Proud of our students’ success

  • News

Proud to accompany our students on their path to success: effort, achievement and new international university destinations.

As we do every August, we eagerly await our students' academic results, as in the British education system, the final IGCSE and A-Level grades are published this month. Beyond the numerical grades obtained, we are especially proud to support and guide our students in finding their own path to success.

Behind each student and academic report, there is a lot of hard work, effort, dreams and hopes, and as a school, we are very proud to accompany them at such a special and important time in their lives. A journey of knowledge and self-improvement that lays its foundations in Early Years, consolidates in Primary and flourishes in Secondary and Sixth Form.

A-Levels

Our 2025 graduates will soon begin a new stage in their lives at the universities of their choice, both in Spain and in other countries such as the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. This class has a 96% pass rate and 40% A*/A grades. By subject, 44% obtained A*/A in Mathematics, 56% in Psychology and 67% in Computer Science.  Furthermore, 40% achieved an A*/A and 61% achieved an A*/B.

Among the international university destinations of our sixth graduating class, UCL (University College London), The University of Edinburgh, KU LEUVEN, TU/e (Eindhoven University of Technology) and Politécnico di Torino stand out. Many of our students chose to continue their university studies in Spain, at the Carlos III University of Madrid, the University of the Basque Country, the Polytechnic University of Valencia, ESIC or ICADE, among others.

We celebrate Mila Aveiga Saltos, an extraordinary achievement

This year, we would like to give special mention to the extraordinary success of Mila Aveiga Saltos, a Year 13 student who has secured a place at the University of Edinburgh to study International Relations.

Mila achieved three A* grades in Spanish, Italian and History, as well as an A grade in Media Studies, truly exceptional results in her A Level exams that reflect her dedication, ability and determination.

What makes Mila's achievement even more extraordinary is her background. She joined our school in Year 12 from Ecuador and faced the difficult task of adapting to a new educational system and linguistic environment. In an incredible display of resilience and commitment, Mila completed her IGCSE in the same year as her AS Levels, all while adapting to a completely new academic and cultural context.

Her academic journey is a testament to her perseverance and passion for learning. Mila has not only excelled personally, but has also inspired those around her with her work ethic and positive spirit. We wish her every success in this exciting new chapter at the University of Edinburgh. The entire school community is proud of her and looks forward to following her future achievements!

IGCSE

We also share the reflections of two students who will begin Sixth Form, their final stage at school, next September: Natalia and Florence. Their academic records show A* and A (excellent) grades in challenging subjects such as Science, Computer Science, English Literature and Art. But above all, we are left with their testimonials, which reflect the spirit of O Castro British International School.

Florence: "I am very happy with my grades, especially in Science, as I want to study Biology, Chemistry and Psychology in Sixth Form. After school, I'm not 100% sure what I want to study, but it will definitely be something related to Biology, as I have always been interested in Marine Biology. My teachers have always encouraged me to achieve my goals, not only in the classroom, but also outside of it. I will always remember the Duke of Edinburgh's expedition!‘

Natalia: ’I am very grateful for the support my teachers gave me during my IGCSE studies, as it helped me achieve all my goals. A-Levels will be my next challenge and I will work hard to succeed. In the future, I am interested in engineering, but I am not yet sure in which field."
