Academic results 2022

  • News

Discover the incredible academic results of our third graduating class and some of our students' university destinations in Spain and abroad.

We welcome a new academic year celebrating the academic success of our third graduating class, with an average mark of 11.3 points out of 14. Special mention should be made of a student from the scientific-technological pathway, with a perfect 14 points out of 14, the highest possible mark. Likewise, 19% of the class of 2022 obtained a university entrance credential of more than 13 points, with 13.7 and 13.8 points.

These results have given them access to prestigious universities, both public and private, in Spain and abroad. Aerospace Engineering at TU Delft, Architecture at University College London, Medicine and the Double Degree in Mathematics and Physics both at the University of Santiago de Compostela, the Double Degree in Law and Political Science at the University Carlos III (Madrid) and Medicine at Lindenwood University in the United States are some of the university destinations for the third year of the British and International School of Vigo (Pontevedra).

A Levels and IGCSE

We would like to congratulate all our Year 13 students on their achievements in A Levels. 69% of A Level results were between A* and C. In addition, 38% of A Levels taken have achieved A*-A grades. We would also like to thank our Year 11 students for their fantastic achievements in the IGCSE exams this summer. In O Castro 88% of results were graded A* - C and an impressive 47% achieved A* - A.
Located in Mos, next to the University City of Vigo, O Castro British International School is the first British school in Galicia and the only one to provide all stages of education, from three to 18 years old. The school follows the UK English National Curriculum, is certified by the NABSS (National Association of British Schools in Spain), accredited by the British Council and approved by the Xunta de Galicia, providing its pupils with a fully bilingual education, with real linguistic immersion in English from the first day of school.

Compared to other more traditional educational systems in Spain, the educational methodology of O Castro British International School is interactive, dynamic and highly stimulating, improving the learning process and the academic performance of its students, making their classes really productive. Its success lies in the personalisation of its curriculum, designed to respond to the individual needs of each child, identifying and enhancing their individual skills, encouraging critical thinking, research and practical experiences.

An achievement story

Lía Penela joined O Castro when she was in Early Years, she is now celebrating achieving 3 A*s (in Chemistry, Spanish and Fine Art A Level). These grades have allowed Lía to secure her first choice degree. In September she will be moving to the UK to study Architecture at UCL (University College London).  Lía stated that “O Castro has been like a family to me. I am so grateful for the way that teachers have challenged me to push myself and supported me to pursue my dreams. I was not 100% sure if I was going to study abroad but now I am really excited to be going to university in London."
