A-Level & IGCSE Results at O Castro British International School
The academic results of the fourth promotion of O Castro British International School certify the educational excellence of the first and only British school in Galicia that offers all educational stages, from three to 18 years old. With a 100% pass rate and a final average mark of 10.98 points, four students stand out in particular, obtaining a perfect A* in the four A-Levels of their choice. In addition, five students obtained a grade higher than 13.5 points and ten more than 13 points, i.e. 23% of the students who took the A-Levels and the PCE.
These academic results have opened the doors to the careers and universities they have chosen, including Civil Engineering at Imperial College London, Philosophy at Durham University (UK), Aerospace Engineering at TU Delft University (Netherlands), Mathematical Physics at the University of Edinburgh, Dentistry at San Pablo Ceu University, Medicine at the University of Navarra, Maritime Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Double Degree in Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering or International Trade at the University of Vigo.
These grades are of course the culmination of years of hard work and student story behind each of them is unique and full of challenges. Mr. Chris Long, Head of School said: "Our role as teachers and as a school goes far beyond the provision of content; the demands and expectations of each pupil mean that the content is adapted to the individual pace of each pupil. This can take place in scheduled lessons, but also in those additional lessons where students need guidance or help with specific aspects. Along the way, all students will need support and it is a real team effort of tutors, teachers and parents working together to ensure this happens. A huge congratulations to all our student this year ".
Located in Mos, next to the University City of Vigo, O Castro British International School follows the English National Curriculum, is certified by the NABSS (National Association of British Schools in Spain), accredited by the British Council and approved by the Xunta de Galicia, providing its students with an international education, with real language immersion in English from the first day of school.
University guidance and support
At O Castro, academic advising and student support play a crucial role in our students' success and overall experience in higher education, promoting success, personal development and overall satisfaction. Our advising and goal-setting programme provides personalised guidance tailored to each student's unique goals, interests and strengths, ensuring that they choose the right pathway, aligned with their interests and career goals while maximising their academic performance.
"Sixth Form's guidance and counselling team takes a holistic approach to student development, focusing not only on academic success but also on personal growth and well-being, providing our students with mentoring and fostering a positive and supportive relationship that contributes to the overall development of the student," explains the school's Technical Director, Maria Guyre.
In addition, the school provides its students with admission requirements for universities and training programmes in Spain and abroad, assisting with graduation, visiting universities, attending college fairs and professional conferences, interpreting standardised test scores, new student orientation and problem solving to equip our students with the tools necessary to achieve their goals.
