Qualifications at O Castro British International School
The qualifications obtained in the IGCSE and A-Level examinations of the British education system are internationally respected and give access to the most prestigious universities in the world. Our students sit the official examinations set and assessed by the external Cambridge and Edexcel Examination Boards, who will measure their skills and abilities, not only that of our students but of all students who follow the British education system outside the UK. At O Castro, we are committed to helping our students achieve academic excellence by supporting them at every stage of their educational journey.
IGCSE and A-Level
The IGCSE and A-Level qualifications are highly respected and recognised around the world. These examination courses provide our students with access to the most prestigious universities in the world, and, also Spanish, under the same conditions as students who have completed the Spanish Baccalaureate.
Access to Spanish universities
Access to public or private Spanish universities with A-Level qualifications is guaranteed under the same conditions as Spanish students applying from Spanish schools. The validation process for our students is carried out via UNED (Universidad de Educación a Distancia) and is known as Direct Access. For more information, please take a look at our FAQ section.
Access to British universities
For access to British universities, at least two A-Level passes are normally required, although for more prestigious UK universities, at least three A-level subjects at grade B or above are necessary.
Students make their university application via UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admission Service) and the school provides help and guidance for our senior students throughout this process.

Access to international universities
University access is not limited to Spain and the United Kingdom. A-Level qualifications enable our students to apply to universities throughout Europe, the United States, Canada and the rest of the world.
