Academic results at O Castro

At our school, academic results reflect our firm commitment to educational excellence and the holistic development of our students. As a British international school in Spain, we offer an academically rigorous pathway leading to official IGCSE and A Level qualifications, recognised worldwide for their quality and opening the doors to prestigious universities around the globe, as well as to Spanish institutions, both public and private.

Year after year, our students demonstrate outstanding performance in these external examinations, combining strong subject knowledge, critical thinking skills and advanced proficiency in English, attributes that enable them to successfully tackle the challenges of their future academic and professional endeavours.

IGCSE results

We are delighted to share with our school community the results achieved by our students in the IGCSE examinations, which reflect a steady and consistent progression in academic excellence. In recent years, we have observed a very positive upward trend in performance levels, with a significant increase in the percentage of grades between A* and C.

In 2023, 81% of students achieved grades within this band of excellence across all subjects. In 2024, this figure improved further thanks to a notable rise in the highest grades, with 55% of students achieving A*-B, and exceptional results in subjects such as Computer Science, Geography and English. In 2025, we maintained these high standards, with 56% of students obtaining A*-B and an impressive 81% achieving A*-C, particularly excelling in Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Business and Science (Double Award), where our students demonstrated advanced mastery of both knowledge and skills.

These achievements highlight not only strong academic attainment, but also the development of essential competencies such as critical thinking, analytical reasoning, problem-solving and effective communication – key skills that will support our students throughout their future studies and careers.

Our students’ A Level results – the British academic qualifications equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato – reflect solid, consistent and highly competitive performance within the international British school context. These results provide access to renowned universities globally as well as to leading Spanish institutions, both public and private.
