Outdoor Learning at O Castro
O Castro British International School offers its students a unique outdoor learning programme, from the age of three upwards. A unique opportunity to build character, knowledge, skills, competencies and global perspectives by embarking on a personal journey of discovery and challenge.
Outdoor learning experiences help children develop inquisitive minds, along with problem-solving approaches in 'real' situations. It fosters children's holistic development and enables them to be better able to identify hazards and risks. It gives them a break from their everyday classroom environment and stimulates their senses, helping them to learn in a different way.
In the British education system, outdoor learning is one of the cornerstones of the curriculum, as it is an effective way of enriching students' education while offering numerous advantages and benefits to their all-round development, academically, personally and socially.
