Creativity Lab: a space to create, experiment and learn
The Creativity Lab at O Castro British International School is an innovative environment designed to transform the way students learn and apply knowledge.
Conceived as a multidisciplinary space, it breaks down the barriers of the traditional classroom and is integrated across the British curriculum, promoting active, practical education connected to the real world.
Inspired by the STEAM methodology (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), the Creativity Lab combines advanced technology, project-based learning and collaborative work to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century. Here, students go from being consumers of content to creators, developing ideas from their initial phase to their realisation.
The space features modular and flexible furniture, adaptable to different ages, subjects and learning objectives, allowing for collaborative and dynamic work. It also has specific areas for each phase of the creative process: planning, design, experimentation and presentation.
Its areas include:
- Presentation area with audiovisual technology.
- Robotics and programming station.
- Space for testing and prototyping.
- 3D printing centre, where students turn digital designs into real objects.

The Creativity Lab reinforces interdisciplinary learning and enhances key skills such as creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration, which are fundamental pillars of the O Castro educational model. Through real-world projects — from programming and robotics to design, research and art — students develop autonomy, confidence and a growth mindset.
This space is part of the school's continuous improvement plan for its facilities, along with the Black Box for public speaking and performing arts and the Green Zone for outdoor learning, consolidating O Castro as a benchmark in educational innovation and comprehensive student development.
