Governance and leadership at O Castro
O Castro British International School is committed to transparent leadership, excellence in teaching, and the proactive support of our students. Our school is certified by the Galician government and regulated by the British Council and NABSS (the National Association of British Schools in Spain) who conduct regular inspections in order to ensure that we maintain the highest standards in all that we do.
As part of Globeducate, the school’s Senior Leadership Team supports every member of staff to achieve their goals. We encourage a rigorous self-evaluative approach, where each team member strives for self improvement. Additionally all members of staff put the students' needs at the centre of what they do. Globeducate’s Directorate of Education works with the school to ensure standards of teaching and learning are being continually challenged in order to achieve the very best for our students.
Transparency
We publish our academic results every year along a list of the universities that accepted O Castro students.
Social commitment
To help our students become socially aware individuals we encourage them to dedicate time and effort to care for the world around them. With this in mind, O Castro British International School supports initiatives that coincide with our educational values and core principles, helping to educate our students in the broadest sense of the word.
Sponsored sporting events
We support sports initiatives to promote sport among children as a healthy lifestyle habit:
- Golf Tournaments
- Hípico El Alazán (horse riding) Social Club League
- Genaro Borrás Memorial Tennis Tournament
- Charity fun runs
- Vigo a Vela charity regatta
Food collections and solidarity initiatives
Along with sporting events we organise charity initiatives including the HOPE campaign, a food drive held at Christmas time; bake sales; donations to NGOs chosen by the Student Council; and activities with the elderly in Vigo including solidarity concerts in nursing homes and organising visits to keep the elderly company.
Globeducate Platinum Standard: Continuous improvement
To ensure continual development and improvement, Globeducate has implemented a framework for monitoring and improving quality throughout all its schools, known as the Platinum Standard. This helps schools to assess the quality of the education they offer, and the system is based upon best educational practices from around the world. The program is structured by means of a set of quality indicators which outline improvement plans in areas such as Effective Leadership, Quality of Teaching and Student Progress and Wellbeing.
